As most braiders know, synthetic hair can be a nightmare. It wreaks havoc on the environment and produces a lot of waste, plus it can cause itching and headaches. A new company, Rebundle, aims to help Black women deal with these issues, as well as raise awareness around synthetic hair toxicity. Founded by May Alexander, the company provides kanekalon hair that’s hot water setting capable—meaning it can be safely and quickly dipped in a tub of hot water to create a braid style without any rubber bands. It also has a better grip than existing synthetic braiding hair, which can make it hard to work with.
